I haven't been getting down to my studio much in the last few months, but I have been making some headway on some handwork projects. I finished hand quilting my Hawaiian Snow-dyed mandala (lower left); I finished appliquéing a block from a class this summer with Andi Perejda, it will be a medallion with just the one block, but needs to have some borders added (top left); I pin basted an "aged" top for hand quilting (my new "to go" project), it was supposed to be a sample for my booth-the pattern is by Edyta Sitar (lower right); my scrap squares top was put together on a day that I just needed to sew but could not concentrate much- the blocks were made as leaders and enders-Bonnie Hunter style- so I just had to lay them out and sew them together (top right). I have two newer pieces waiting to be loaded on the long-arm, but I feel the need to un-clutter the studio (and my mind) by pulling stuff off the shelf...
I love using leader/ enders when I am chain piecing. It was an idea from Bonnie Hunter. Instead of using a scrap piece of material in between chains, use two small blocks. You can work on two project projects at once! I keep a pile of 2" scrap squares next to my machine for this reason...Happy piecing!
